Stone Mountain Laser Light Show….and sleepover!

Last night Leona had a sleepover with her best buddy, Sam. This is the second time Sam has spent the night and both were a huge success. The girls have so much fun together and amazingly go to bed (albeit later than normal) without much trouble. As I write this at 2:30 in the afternoon, Leona is asleep on the couch – exhausted from her big night. I’m betting Sam is asleep too.

I took them to see the laser light show at Stone Mountain Park. We took lots of snacks and waited for about an hour for it to get dark.  They danced to music and had fun trying to figure out what the men carved on the mountain were all about. I told them they were soldiers who fought in a war and they likened them to King Pharaoh.  I offered to buy them a glow in the dark stick but instead they wanted cotton candy.

Here is a video and a photo of them dancing pre-show.

In the end, I think they liked the laser show but were more enamored with the fireworks that also went off.  Can’t wait for Independence Day!!

Fun at Lake Oconee

Bathing BeautiesWe spent another fun weekend at Lake Oconee with our friends The Beirnes. Leona and Kevin both swallowed plenty of lakewater while they re-enacted the movie Kung Fu Panda jumping into the water.

Julia has really perfected her walking and spent most of the time taking toys away from her buddy, Riley. They managed to ham it up for the camera at the pool.

Minnie Visits

Ryan, Carly and Minnie visited Lake Oconee with Ryan’s friend James last weekend. We had a great time. We even went water skiing.

Cool Baby

The girls found a frog at the pool and tortured it for a bit.  Minnie also learned to swim around by herself in a life jacket. Woohoo!

David put a webcam up at the lake. Maybe we’ll start our own reality show!

Visit to Mt. Ida

Julia and I went to Talladega, Alabama to visit Anne B. and her family. We saw their gorgeous new Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home. Their daughter, Elise is so adorable and smart. The perfect country girl. She runs around outside without shoes, usually without clothes and is in and out of the pool at her leisure. What a life. I wish we could do the same!

Julia loved their old dog Holly and I think was even trying to say “dog.”  Holly was very handy for cleaning up Julia’s mess after breakfast.

Leona got in trouble for not listening so she missed out on the trip. David was too busy with work and he missed out too. Hopefully we can visit again later in the summer so they can visit with the Picards and their beautiful dream home.

Intro to blogging

I decided to enter the world of blogging. It seems like the best thing to do considering I spend so much time journaling and sharing photos and videos anyway. I hope this works. I’m interested to see if the family likes seeing what our “exciting” days consist of.

Here is a photo to test out the waters. It’s of Julia hanging out while Leona was watersliding in the driveway.Julia on a hot summer\'s day
