Country Girls Can Survive
Julia and Riley had a fun day in the sun exploring a farm/polo field on Thursday. They fed apples to the horses and played in the creek. We had a hard time getting them to leave!

Good Day Your Majesty
We went to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday. Despite a long wait in traffic, we had a great time. We wish we had the energy to stay longer.
The girls dressed up and were confused yet delighted by all the other attendees who were dress up as well. They received a lot of bows and comments from the actors and other attendees as Leona and Julia were dressed as “royalty.” This renaissance culture is a bit strange I must say but lots of fun for a couple of little girls who like to play dress up.
We went with our friends the Crenshaws. Leona and her friend Lucy participated in a ceremony with Queen Anne Boleyn!

Easter at the Lake
It was a beautiful spring weekend at Lake Oconee. Leona attended a neighborhood egg hunt and then both girls picked up eggs left by the Easter Bunny on Sunday morning.
Julia surprised us and picked up a lot of eggs – she also tossed a bunch back down on the ground after shaking them and determining they didn’t have enough ‘rattle’ to produce any candy. Leona was all too happy to pick up the discarded eggs as the Easter Bunny had put ’silent’ cotton candy in some of the eggs.

An Interesting Petting Zoo
Near Stone Mountain there is a place called the Yellow River Game Ranch. They take in wild animals that have been injured and then allow humans (with food) to come and see, pet, and feed the animals. The animals are a bit mangey and nevermind the fact that we saw a dead deer up close (he’s just resting.) We got some great photos and the deer ate out of the girls’ hands.

Wine Country Weekend
We went to Napa and Sonoma for a fantastic long weekend to celebrate our friend Bryan’s 50th birthday. We overindulged in wonderful food, wine, friendship and scenery.

St. John
It was the usual, yet wonderful, trip to St. John again the beginning of March. Once again, Leona fed the iguanas, climbed the rocks and made kitchens in the sand. This time she had Julia to boss around to bring her supplies (more water, more sand, repeat).
Julia loved the sand, she would cover herself in it. Typically, her lunch or doritos and of course her thumb would be covered in sand – although she didn’t seem to mind the added texture.
Leona and David also got busy digging giant holes in the sand after a couple of little boys asked her if she would like to join them.
Boys: “Hi! do you want to help us dig a hole?”
Leona: “Why? are you making a hot tub?”
Boys: “No, we’re just digging a hole.”
Leona and David discovered that simply digging a hole was pretty fun after all.
